Former President Donald Trump on Monday toured Hurricane Helene’s damage in Georgia in a trip that came hours after he criticized President Biden’s response to the disaster.
The Republican presidential nominee held off from attacking Biden and Kamala Harris during his visit to the devastated town of Valdosta in Georgia, telling reporters “We’re not talking about politics now.”
“We do need some help from the federal government,” Trump said adding that he brought truckloads of relief to residents including fuel, water, and equipment.
In a remark that angered Biden, Trump claimed that Georgia Governor Brian Kemp had not been able to reach the President to seek relief.
Biden responded to the claims insisting that he and Kemp had indeed communicated.
“I don’t know why he does this, and the reason I get so angry about it, I don’t care about what he says about me, but I care what he communicates to the people that are in need. He implies that we’re not doing everything possible,” Biden said Monday.
