Oklahoma City news, Oklahoma news.

An Oklahoma woman was reportedly smiling when cops showed up to arrest her after she allegedly tried to drown her daughter and nephew last June.

Flor Ontiveros, 34, was charged with two counts of child abuse in connection to the June 17 incident that occurred at the Will Rogers Aquatic Center in Oklahoma City.

Lifeguards found the children floating face down and unresponsive in the pool at around 5 p.m.

The children, aged 4 and 6, were given CPR and transported to a hospital to receive further care.

A witness told cops Ontiveros was smiling as she held her nephew’s “entire body and head underneath the water and multiple people were yelling at her.”

The suspect’s daughter told investigators her mother “pushed her face underwater” and “her eyes were open and she was breathing water.”

“Lifeguards jumped into action with the help of a patron as well and got those kids out of the water,” Unit operations supervisor Mason Williams said.

“Their training kicked in. They get the CPR and the AED, the first aid, all of that training.”
