A beloved grandmother has succumbed to her injuries after a suicidal man fell from a Los Angeles freeway overpass onto her car last month.
Margarita Novela Galindo was traveling with her husband along the 210 Freeway in Sylmar, Los Angeles on August 9 when a man decided to jump off the Roxford overpass at around 7:20 p.m.
The man fell on Galindos’ car going straight through the windscreen and landing on Margarita as she sat in the passenger seat.
The impact caused the elderly woman fatal wounds that claimed her life three weeks later. She died on Wednesday.
“She fought bravely for nearly three weeks, but on August 28th, the doctors told us that she wouldn’t recover,” her son said.
“Tragically, my mom passed away, leaving behind me, my brother, my sister, and her seven grandchildren. My dad is now alone without the love of his life.”
“It’s incredibly unfair that her life was taken because someone else didn’t want theirs.”
The suicidal man was taken to a hospital in critical condition. It is unclear whether he survived.
