Three people are confirmed dead after a small plane crashed into a row of townhouses in a Fairview, Oregon neighborhood early Saturday.
Gresham Fire said two of the victims were occupants of the small plane and the third was a resident of a townhouse.
The pilot of the Cessna 421 reported having handling problems before crashing into a pole and then into the townhouses igniting several fires.
The crash occurred at around 10:20 a.m. near the Troutdale airport. The victims’ identities are currently unknown.
“There was an instant fireball. I’ve never seen a fire go so fast,” a witness said.
“I felt it slam against the side of the building. My wife was inside. When I came around the corner, there was a huge fireball.”
Over 22,000 power outages were reported in the area in the four hours that followed the crash.
