A Tennessee man was arrested in connection to a killing and an arson fire that ravaged a historic Athens church earlier this week.
Surveillance footage caught Kyle Jay Hickox strolling the area several times before the August 15 blaze that reduced the Athens church to ashes.
Police found Linda Buchanan dead after extinguishing the fire. It was later determined that she was killed before the fire started.
Hickox was also seen running across the Athens YMCA property and the Tennessee Wesleyan University where he told a worker he “would get God’s water.”
The suspect was arrested Friday on charges of second-degree murder charges.
Investigators with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigations found blood on Hickox’s left shoe that matched Buchanan’s blood.
