‘People are sick’: Mom, fiancé arrested after abused boy, 6, found dead in hot bath water

A Baltimore couple is facing charges after a 6-year-old boy was found dead and floating in hot bath water on Wednesday.

The bruised and burned body of Brian Graham was discovered by his mother, Jalesia Offer, who said she found her fiancé Brandon Whealty slumped over near the tub.

Police were called to the Cheswolde home at around 11:30 p.m. and brought the unresponsive boy to the hospital where he was declared dead.

  • The medical examiner’s office ruled Brian’s death a homicide determining that he suffered a lacerated liver, several fractured ribs, and internal bleeding in the head and torso.

    The bathwater he was found in reached 128 degrees Fahrenheit causing him burns.

    “It’s awful. It’s a crazy world we live in. but when you hear stuff like that, especially in your own backyard, it’s kinda trippy. People are sick, and people need help,” a neighbor said.

    Offer and Whealthy, both 34, were charged with first-degree child abuse resulting in death.
