Deputy succumbs to injuries days after he was shot while serving warrant

A Carroll County deputy has died early Saturday, days after he was shot in the head while serving a warrant.

30-year-old Taylor Bristow was shot Tuesday morning while executing a warrant for child exploitation material at a Carrollton home.

Suspect Christopher Bly, 40, answered the door and then reiterated to the home, retrieved, and fired multiple shots at deputies, striking Bristow and himself.

  • Early Saturday, the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office announced the grim news of Deputy Bristow’s passing.

    “Tonight, we mourn the passing of Investigator Bristow, who has left this earth and gained his heavenly wings,”

    “He served our community with unwavering passion and dedicated his life to protecting the citizens of Carroll County.”

    Bristow was a six-year veteran of the department. A procession is set to escort his body from Grady Memorial Hospital where he died to the GBI’s crime lab later Saturday.
