California's most prolific serial killer who had been convicted twice of murdering 25 farm workers has died.
California Department of Corrections officers announced the death of 85-year-old Juan Vallejo Corona at a hospital around 8:15 a.m.
The bodies of 25 farm workers were discovered inhumed in 1971. The identified victims had all been either recruited by Corona through his labor business or previously seen with him. The grisly burial site was located near Marysville along the Feather River in Sutter County.
In 1978, Corona had won an appeal trial and had been convicted for the second time of the 25 killings. He was sentenced to 25 concurrent life sentences.
Correction officials said that the infamous killer had died of natural causes.
