A Florida woman has been charged for her involvement in the deadly ambush of a deputy during a chaotic incident at her Lake County home late Friday.
Julie Sulpizio, 48, allegedly told detectives she was luring neighbors to her home so that her husband, Michael Sulpizio, could shoot them when Master Deputy Sheriff Bradley Link and other deputies responded to their fight.
The woman, who was acting erratically, was taken into custody when the deputies decided to conduct a welfare check on her home.
The deputies found two deceased dogs in the yard, called for backup, and entered the residence where Michael Sulpizio was laying in wait for them.
Michael Sulpizio ambushed the deputies fatally shooting Link, 28, and wounding two other deputies, Lake County Sheriff Peyton Grinnell said in a news conference.
Body camera footage showed Michael Sulpizion and his two stepdaughters, Julie’s adult daughters, discussing suicide before all three were found dead.
Grinnell said more than 20 firearms were found “gathered, placed, and staged” at the troubled family home along with gas masks, conspiracy-theory media, and other suspicious items.
