Tree falls onto mobile home killing teen as Hurricane Debby battered Florida

A Florida boy is dead after a tree fell onto his mobile home during Hurricane Debby on Monday, authorities said.

Levy County officials said the tree fell onto the mobile home in Fanning Springs at around 8 a.m.

Lt. Scott Tummond said the 13-year-old boy “was crushed inside the home.” No other person was injured in the incident.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with this family as they deal with this tragedy,” Tummond added.

    Two other fatalities related to the Category 1 storm were reported in Dixie County on Sunday night.

    A 38-year-old woman and a 12-year-old boy were killed in a crash when their car lost control “due to inclement weather and wet roadway.”
