A Massachusetts man is behind bars after authorities said he killed his brother’s pregnant ex-girlfriend for sending him to jail in a domestic violence case.
Zachary Vozzella, 26, denied killing Brianna Welsh, 25, whose lifeless body was found with multiple stab wounds inside the apartment the two shared on Thursday.
Police said Vozzella’s brother, 24-year-old Brendon Vozzella, had been arrested a day earlier for assaulting Welsh during an altercation.
Investigators that was the motive that triggered her killing, allegedly at the hands of her boyfriend’s brother Zachary.
The suspect was caught leaving the apartment Wednesday evening with several bags that contained blood-stained clothing and a kitchen knife.
Zachary initially claimed he was at a Dunkin’ before telling officers he had been at the apartment but didn’t see the victim.
“He’s very, very sad about the whole, not only his own circumstances but that someone died and that his brother’s in trouble,” Zachary’s attorney Francisco Napolitano said.
“So everywhere he looks at is just sadness.”
