Tarrant County news, Texas news.

A Texas attorney has been charged after she allegedly tried to buy at least two pregnant inmates’ babies, authorities said.

The two Tarrant County Jail inmates were allegedly given hundreds of dollars by Jody Hall in exchange for their unborn babies.

Hall, 68, told the expecting mothers that their babies will be up for adoption through an agency.

Investigators said that a 29-year-old inmate received more than $800 from Hall before she decided to keep her child.

Hall then verbally attacked the woman in a text, allegedly writing “…You’re in jail and a drug addict. You did not keep him. You are a scammer.”

In another exchange with a second pregnant inmate, Hall allegedly said “I’ve helped a lot of girls like yourself. We have families who cannot have children that would love to adopt your child.”

“We will put $100 weekly on your books and you can spend part of it on the tablet or whatever you wish to buy…You will have $2,500 when you get out.”

That inmate also decided to keep her child.

In Texas, buying or selling children even for adoption is illegal.

Hall has been charged with trying to buy or sell a child. She has since bonded out of jail.
