Florida man admits to dousing wife in gasoline; setting her on fire over air conditioning

A Florida man is accused of burning his wife to death during an argument over air temperature inside their Levy County home.

Robert Head, 58, has been charged with first-degree murder and arson after he allegedly set his wife Genevether Head on fire killing her Thursday evening.

Williston Fire crews responded to a burning structure at around 7:48 p.m. and located a deceased woman inside the home.

Robert was hiding inside a dog kennel, holding a machete and threatening to hurt himself.

  • The victim’s daughter was also burned in the incident. she told detectives that the couple started an argument over air conditioning settings before Head walked outside “smiling.”

    The witness said Head returned with a cooking pot filled with gasoline and told her mother, “If we going out we going out together, I told you I ain’t never leaving you.”

    He then allegedly threw the gasoline on the victim and lit her on fire causing an “explosive reaction.”

    “When asked the defendant stated that he deserved to die for taking the life of the victim,” the affidavit read.
