Two decomposed bodies were found inside an 18-wheeler in northwest Houston Thursday morning, authorities said.
Citizens called 911 after hearing homeless people in the area talk about the two bodies inside an 18-wheeler.
HPD officers and HFD crews were sent to the scene to search for the bodies in a parking lot with several 18-wheelers.
The trucks were reportedly filled with Purple Heart donations; the search lasted hours before crews noticed a truck with a hole cut on its rooftop.
Firefighters used a ladder and searched the truck where they discovered the lifeless bodies.
“Appears to be two bodies for sure. I mean, they’ve been there a very long time so they’re very decomposed, almost look like a mummy,” Lt. R. Wilkens said.
The decedents were likely homeless people who were living in the truck.
The medical examiner’s office will determine a cause of death.
