The scene of a deadly plane crash was discovered Monday, one day after it occurred in rural McDowell County, authorities said.
The Cessna C182 airplane crashed in the Brackett Town Road area, near Rutherfordton mountains killing three, the McDowell County officials confirmed.

“Our hearts go out to the families and loved ones of those affected by this devastating incident,” the county’s Emergency Medical Services said in a statement.
“We appreciate your understanding and respect for the privacy of the families involved during this difficult time.”
The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the incident.
