Houston news, Texas news.

A pet sitter from the Rover app is in hot water after Houston Police launched an investigation into the deaths of three dogs under her care.

Jessica Hayward lost her dog Goose on Saturday shortly after booking the pet sitter through the app.

“She was crying and could barely get words out. All that I said was, ‘Is Goose alive?’ And she said no. We just kept saying, ‘What happened?’ She didn’t know. We eventually found out that he died in his crate. It was covered,” Hayward said.

The devastated woman was among seven families whose dogs suffered heat stroke while in the care of the pet sitter. Three of those dogs died.

“We absolutely had no knowledge that there were other dogs there. She had the highest number of repeat clients on the platform in Houston and great reviews. We had used her a few times as well, too,” Hayward said.

An investigation into the deaths is ongoing and no charges have been filed.

Rover App said in a statement that the accused pet sitter’s account has been deleted adding that they are cooperating with the police.
