Virginia girl, 9, injured after another child found older brother’s gun& ‘hit the trigger’

A Virginia girl is recovering after she was shot when another minor fired their older brother’s unsecured gun on Friday.

The other minor found “one of [the brother’s] loaded firearms unsecured on the bed” and “hit the trigger causing it to discharge”, the Henry County Sheriff’s Office said.

The gunshot struck the victim’s leg, just above the ankle, officials added.

    Authorities identified the girl’s older brother as 19-year-old Kevin Hairston.

    He had two outstanding warrants for his arrest and now faces charges of Child endangerment and reckless handling of a firearm.
