A series of Data for Progress polls compiled by FiveThirtyEight showed that former President Donald Trump could easily defeat a host of potential “replacements” for President Biden should he step down from the race.
In the polls, Trump beat California Governor Gavin Newsom 47 to 44 and Vice President Kamala Harris 48 to 45.

The research gathered responses from more than 1,000 participants amid uncertainty over Biden’s ability to fulfill his 2024 presidential bid.
Also falling when pitted against Trump in the poll were Illinois, Pennsylvania, and Michigan governors, New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker, and Minnesota. Sen. Amy Klobuchar.
