Two lifeless bodies of a mother and son were found inside a Rochester, Minnesota apartment late Thursday, authorities said.
Officers conducting a welfare check at a home at the River Glen Apartments complex found the two bodies.
The deceased were a 54-year-old woman and her 30-year-old son. They were found shot inside the son’s apartment.
Investigators believe the incident was a murder-suicide after locating a handgun by the son’s body.
The incident appeared to have occurred a while ago and neighbors confirmed not seeing either of the deceased in a few weeks.
Resident Carolyn Kruger said she called 911 for a welfare check on the female victim whom she had not seen since early June.
The victim had told her at the time that things were “not so good” with her and her son who had been dealing with “some issues.”
The neighbor’s concern grew when delivered packages, and notes from the complex office started amassing outside the victim’s apartment.
