1 dead, 3 wounded in shooting and stabbing incident on I-5 in Washington

A driver was found dead and his three passengers injured inside a stolen vehicle along Interstate 5 in Federal Way, authorities said.

The Washington State Patrol said that the four passengers of a black BMW reported stolen were found with various wounds in the northbound lanes of the interstate.

First responders declared the car’s driver dead at the scene at around 2 p.m. Wednesday.

The victim suffered stab wounds along with two passengers of the vehicle.

  • A fourth passenger was found with multiple gunshot wounds. The three injured passengers were taken to the hospital to receive treatment.

    “We only know what [first responders] were able to gather when they first were tending to people at the scene, which wasn’t a whole lot,” WSP Trooper Rick Johnson said,

    A gun was recovered at the scene but there was no trace of the stabbing weapon.

    “We don’t know the relationship right now. We’re at the infant stages of the investigation,” Johnson added.

    “The challenge is trying to figure out what happened inside the vehicle, obviously. The sequence of events.”
