Mother wanted for murder over 13-year-old son’s starvation death

A 43-year-old mother is wanted in connection to the death of her 13-year-old son who died from starvation last March.

Aston Starkey’s death was ruled a homicide from malnutrition and dehydration, Shelby County Coroner Linda Evans said.

Birmingham Police responded to Extended Stay America on March 2 and transported the teen with Down syndrome to a hospital where he died.

    Aston was born in Florida and moved to Alabama with his mother; He was never enrolled in school and rarely saw a doctor.
