A Charles City County Sheriff’s deputy died after an altercation with a man he helped move into an ambulance Sunday.

Sergeant Floyd H. Miles Jr. saw a man falling off a moped, bloodied, as he monitored traffic.

The deputy asked if the man was OK and called an ambulance. The man allegedly claimed that people were chasing him and trying to murder him.
