A 10-year-old Texas girl is fighting for life after a murder-suicide that claimed her mother’s life on May 30.
Chantal Cantu, 33, was “murdered while protecting her daughter from gunfire” in a murder-suicide carried out by her 39-year-old boyfriend.
The girl was critically wounded following the tragedy that occurred at a Spring apartment complex around 5 p.m.
She suffered gunshot wounds to five major organs in the abdomen; She has undergone several surgeries and is clinging to life in the pediatric intensive care unit.
“Although Chantal’s 10-year-old daughter is strong and she is a fighter, the road to recovery will be long,” a fundraiser reads.
“We would love nothing more than for her to get back to being that energetic, loving, caring soul that she was prior to this hideous act.”
