A vehicle theft incident in Burlington ended with a deadly crash in Colchester leaving two people dead and three others wounded late Friday.
The crash occurred near Malletts Bay on East Lakeshore Drive around 7:35 p.m. Saturday following a police pursuit.
A group of five men stole a 2024 Ford Expedition in Burlington with “at least one of the men brandishing a firearm during the incident.”
Burlington officers located the stolen SUV and gave chase along Route 127 before Colchester Police officers joined them at the municipal line.
The stolen vehicle ended up overturning killing two men at the scene. The three others were transported to the University of Vermont Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities did not elaborate on how the crash occurred as state police investigate the incident.
