Nevada teacher accused of handing ‘inappropriate’ note to student takes own life 2 days after arrest

A Nevada substitute teacher accused of handing “inappropriate” notes to a middle school student took his own life on Saturday, May 18, two days after his arrest.

Nicholas Bott, 44, a former teacher at a Clark County middle school, died Saturday from a self-inflicted gunshot to the head.

  • Bott was arrested Thursday, May 16, on charges of child abuse and unlawful contact with a minor.

    An investigation into the incident involving a 14-year-old student started last week and culminated with the teacher’s arrest.

    He bonded out of jail on May 17 with his next court appearance scheduled for June 20.
