Baby found dead in hot car outside W. Virginia daycare

Police in Morgantown, West Virginia said that a baby had died after they were left in a hot car for an extended amount of time Wednesday afternoon.

Officers found the lifeless baby in a rear-facing car seat in the backseat of an SUV parked outside Young Hearts daycare.

Emergency responders declared the baby dead at the scene at around 4 p.m.

  • There was no immediate information about how the baby was left in the car or for how long.

    “The department wishes to express their sincere condolences to the family and friends that have been directly impacted by this tragic loss as well as recognizing the devastating impact such a loss is to the community,” Morgantown Police Department Chief Eric Powell stated.

    No arrests were made in connection to the incident.
