Ga. worker dies from electrocution while cutting down trees

Authorities in Acworth, Georgia said that a worker died Monday in a tragic electrocution incident while cutting down trees.

The victim was reportedly working for an independent tree service firm on a private property when the tragic accident took place.

“He had taken his chainsaw, and that’s what caught the power line, and it was all over for him,” a neighbor said.

Officers and firefighters were assisted by Acworth Power agents as they removed the man from the tree where he died.

  • “Unfortunately, he lost his life and it’s a very sad situation today,” Acworth Police Cpl. Eric Mistretta said.

    “The power company showed up. They brought a large bucket truck to assist us. They also killed the power lines for the safety of our crews,” Fire Lt. Steve Bennett added.

    The neighbor who witnessed the ordeal called the incident “awful and very disturbing.”

    “I called Acworth Power. Whoever answered the phone, I gave them a detailed message and I said time is of the essence because don’t know if they’re doing this, how they’re supposed to be doing it.”
