Palmdale news, California news.

Authorities in Los Angeles County suspended on Wednesday the search for the remains of a 3-week-old baby presumed dead at an Antelope Valley landfill.

Deputies first received a missing person report and responded to the child’s home in the 2300 block of Carolyn Drive in Palmdale.

Shortly afterward, the mission to locate little Baki Dewees turned into a recovery operation.

The boy was last seen alive on May 4 with his 24-year-old father Yusuf Dewees who is currently being considered a suspect in his infant’s death.

“I can’t even cry anymore. I’ve been crying so much. I feel numb,” the baby’s grandmother said.

Police did not disclose whether the infant’s remains were found before they left the landfill late Tuesday.

“We will be keeping the DA’s office informed of our investigation and our findings and we will be working with them,” said LASD Lt. Omar Camacho.
