Street-racing teens fatally hit construction worker in south St. Louis

Authorities in St. Louis County have charged two teens over the fatal crash that killed a construction worker and wounded another Friday morning.

Deondre Robinson and Patrick Aten, both 18, were charged with first-degree involuntary manslaughter and second-degree assault with an additional count of operating a vehicle on a highway without a license for Robinson.

  • Investigators said the teens were street-racing and traveling at high rates of speed when Robinson lost control of his vehicle and crashed into the two construction workers.

    34-year-old Christopher John was declared dead at the scene of the crash while his coworker suffered severe injuries.

    Both teens are being detained on a $150,000 cash-only bond.
