A 20-year-old passenger went overboard from a Royal Caribbean cruise ship as it traveled between Cuba and the Bahamas early Friday morning.
The drunk man fell into the sea from the 18-story Liberty of the Seas at around 4 a.m. according to an eyewitness who had been hanging out with the passenger who appeared “pretty drunk” in the hot tub.
“As we were walking from the hot tub back to the elevators, his dad and brother were walking towards us,” the witness recalled.
“His dad was fussing at him for being drunk, I guess.”
That’s when the man told his father “I’ll fix this right now” and jumped into the ocean in front of his horrified family members.
The US Coast Guard said Friday morning that the search for the passenger was still considered a “rescue operation.”
