Texas authorities canceled an Amber Alert after the bodies of a missing toddler and his mother were discovered in a ditch at a San Antonio park.
Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar announced that Savannah Kriger and 3-year-old Kaiden were located in a ditch at Tom Slick Park, deceased, on Tuesday.
Deputies found a firearm at the scene which is believed to have been used in the deaths.
Kriger went missing early Monday when she picked up Kaiden from daycare for a doctor’s appointment.
“Her phone was going straight to voicemail. Her location services were off,” Salazar said.
The Sheriff said that a search of Kriger’s home confirmed investigators' fears for her and her son’s safety.
“I won’t go too much into detail on what was found, but they did find some things that led us to believe there was certainly cause for concern for the child, as well as for Savannah.”
Kriger was set to attend a custody hearing the day following her disappearance.
