Authorities in Honolulu, Hawaii are investigating the Sunday deaths of a family of five as a murder-suicide.
Police believe a man stabbed his wife, and their three children aged 10, 12, and 17 to death before taking his own life amid a domestic argument.
Officers found the five family members’ bodies inside the Manoa neighborhood home shortly after 9:00 a.m.
“Based on the evidence found at the scene and the investigation thus far, it appears that the adult male killed the female and the juveniles with a knife that was recovered from the scene. The motive is still under investigation,” Honolulu Police Department Lt. Deena Thoemme said.
“These don’t appear to be random acts,” she noted adding that investigators are reviewing surveillance footage and questioning witnesses.
Mayor Rick Blangiardi said in a statement that the “inexplicable tragedy has deeply shaken our community.”
