Missing Florida girl, 13, found dead in woods; mom’s boyfriend named prime suspect

A Florida girl was found dead in a wooded area in Osceola County Friday days after she went mysteriously missing.

Orange County Sheriff John Mina announced Friday that Madeline Soto was still wearing the clothes she was last seen alive in when her body was discovered.

Her mother’s boyfriend, 37-year-old Stephan Sterns, claimed he dropped her off for school Monday morning before she vanished.

  • Sheriff Mina revealed that detectives believe Madeline was already dead by that time adding that surveillance cameras caught Stern driving with her lifeless body in his car early Monday.

    “We believe she was already dead at the time and that Stephan Sterns moved her body in the early morning hours on that day,” Mina told reporters.

    “We have video evidence that shows Stephan Sterns discarding items in a dumpster in that apartment complex in Kissimmee at 7:35 a.m.”

    Among the discarded items, detectives found Madeline’s backpack and school-issued laptop.
