Philadelphia news, Pennsylvania news.

Police in Philadelphia are investigating a double execution in the city’s Fairmount Park after a man and a woman were found shot in the head late Thursday.

One of the victims was discovered on the 3800 block of Mount Pleasant Drive in East Fairmount Park about half a block away from the iconic Mount Pleasant Mansion at around 11 p.m.

Police and first responders rushed to the scene to find a 38-year-old woman and a 48-year-old man dead next to each other in a gully.

“At this point, it appears they were both shot and killed execution-style,” he said.

“Not only because they were laying next to each other. It appears the shooter or shooters were standing very very close to these two victims when the shots were fired, since ballistic evidence was right there, just a few feet away.”

Authorities have identified the bodies but are not releasing identities pending family notification.
