Man evading police crashes into 2 vehicles in Arlington; at least 6 injured

Police in Arlington said that a suspect fleeing cops crashed into two vehicles Thursday evening, injuring six people.

The incident occurred shortly after 6 p.m. when a group of teens started a fight in the 1900 block of Chalice Road before things escalated into a shooting.

Responding officers were able to arrest one of the teens and learned from him that the teen who fired the shots fled in a vehicle.

At approximately 9:30 p.m., the suspected car was located along Pioneer Parkway but the 32-year-old driver, Roberto Rodriguez, sped when he spotted the police leading them into a chase.

  • As he traveled westbound along Pioneer Parkway, Rodriguez crashed into two vehicles before he got out of the wreck and tried to run away.

    He was eventually arrested and taken to an area hospital for minor injuries. Police said that a 25-year-old and two teens were in his car and sustained injuries.

    Two other victims from the other vehicles were hospitalized for non-life-threatening injuries.

    The teen involved in the initial fight and shooting is among the injured and a gun was recovered from Rodriguez’s vehicle.
