4 men shot dead outside Alabama car wash in ‘targeted, heinous’ drive-by shooting

Four men were shot and killed as they stood outside a car wash in Birmingham, Alabama Friday afternoon.

Police believe at least two shooters opened fire from a moving vehicle targeting the four victims at around 2:45 p.m. outside the Center Street North business.

Cortez Ray, 32; Talton Tait, 36; and Terrell Edwards, 38, were pronounced dead at the scene; Kevin McGhee, 38, died at UAB Hospital shortly later.

  • “We’re in the early stages of this investigation trying to determine exactly what happened and who may be responsible for this particular heinous crime,” said Police Chief Scott Thurmond.

    “It is really disgusting that these things continue to happen in our city over and over again and people got to learn other ways to resolve their conflicts. It disturbs the entire neighborhood.”

    “It’s something that’s going to rock our city; it’s going to rock this neighborhood.”
