4.6 magnitude earthquake rocks southern California

Millions across Southern California were left shaken by a 4.6 magnitude tremor that struck the celebrity hotspot of Malibu and the surrounding area Friday afternoon.

The quake’s epicenter was located 6 miles northwest of Malibu in the Santa Monica Mountains about 35 miles west of Los Angeles.

The U.S. Geological Survey announced that the earthquake hit at 1:45 p.m. local time and was followed by at least three aftershocks including a magnitude 3.0 tremor.

Resident and celebs took to social media to share their experience with the earthquake. Comedian Kathy Griffin said she was on the beach when the quake hit.
