Florida girl, 12, arrested over online mass shooting threats at middle school

A Florida girl was arrested Friday after she allegedly threatened a mass shooting at her Pinellas County middle school, authorities said.

The 12-year-old is accused of sending messages to classmates on Instagram informing them of a mass shooting that would occur at Azalea Middle School.

    Police also questioned the girl’s mother before she was taken to the Pinellas Juvenile Assessment Center.

    "The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office remains committed to keeping our schools, our children, and our community safe," the department wrote in a statement.
