Las Vegas news, Nevada news.

A shooting inside a Las Vegas homeless encampment has left one person dead and four others wounded including one in critical condition.

Gunfire erupted at around 5:35 p.m. Friday inside the homeless encampment near the intersection of Charleston Boulevard and Honolulu Street on the east side of Las Vegas.

Las Vegas Police Lt. Jason Johansson identified the slain victim as a man in his 50s. The injured victims included three men in their 30s and an adult teen.

Police are now searching for the suspect described as a black man who fled the crime scene in a black sedan.

Asked whether the Vegas shooting had any connection to attacks targeting the homeless in Los Angeles, Lt. Johansson answered:

“This is quite a bit different than that scenario so I’m not inclined to say that it is related, but if our investigation takes us that route we will go there, but we are not there right now.”
