A California mother was busted at a shopping center Friday about 20 miles away from the home where her 9-year-old daughter was found dead.
Khadiyjah Pendergraph, 32, was charged with murder after officers conducting a welfare check at her home found the child dead with “obvious signs of trauma.”

“While police officers are exposed to tragedies on a daily basis, this murder is particularly disturbing, due to the senseless loss of a child allegedly at the hands of her own mother,” Westminster Chief of Police Darin Lenyi said.
“The members of the WPD grieve with the victim’s family and extend our deepest condolences.”
