Alabama mom charged after 2-year-old daughter dies with fentanyl in her system

An Alabama woman was charged this week over the fentanyl-related death of her 2-year-old daughter last summer.

Farrah Bates was charged with reckless manslaughter and chemical endangerment for exposing a child to controlled substances.

The 2-year-old victim was found unresponsive, without a pulse, inside her family’s home in the 2200 block of Old Pinson Highway on July 18.

    An autopsy revealed that the girl had fentanyl in her system at the time of her passing.

    Bates surrendered to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday.
