Authorities in Sevier County, Utah deemed the death of a 13-year-old boy as a tragic accident after he was found dead with a tetherball rope wrapped around his neck on Saturday.

Maximus Knight was reportedly helping with the cleanup at his family’s Knights Corn Maze business when the incident occurred.

First responders rushed to the scene to find an unresponsive Maximus at a tetherball pole with the rope strangling him.

The boy was briefly revived but later died at a hospital, his grieving family said.

“Maximus was a beautiful, sweet, and loving child who brought so much joy to his family and to his community,” a GoFundMe page read.

“The youngest of his family, Maximus made every effort to impress his big brothers and care for those around him.”

“Our hearts are broken as we struggle to make sense of this tragedy. We will forever mourn his passing.”
