Georgia authorities are searching for a suspect after a shooting outside a Valdosta bar claimed the young life of a former high school star Saturday.
21-year-old Brianna Long was closing down The Pier Bar where she worked as a bartender when gunfire erupted at around 2 a.m.
Long was shot and later pronounced dead at the South Georgia Medical Center. Police believe the shooting stemmed from an altercation that broke out at the bar’s parking lot.
“Many patrons were outside during the shooting and multiple vehicles were shot,” the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said.
“This case is active and ongoing.”
The victim was an outstanding soccer player at Paulding High School and won the “Regional Winner for Positive Athlete Georgia” during the 2019-2020 school year.
