A 2-year-old North Carolina boy is recovering after an accidental shooting that involved his brother at a Burke County church Sunday evening.
Police responded to River Valley Baptist Church in Morganton at around 8:30 p.m. over reports of a toddler who was shot in the head.
Rev. Adam Vines, a pastor at the church, confirmed that the boys were his sons.
“It did go in behind his ear, but it went across the corner on the lower side instead of going through the brain,” he said.
“His talking, communications, his moving ability, all of that part is still intact.”
Vines said that the brother who fired the accidental shot found the gun in the back of his van.
“He is, he’s in shock for the most part. I have not had a chance to talk with him much today.”
