Texas dad charged in fentanyl-related death of 13-year-old son

A Baytown, Texas father was charged this week over the death of his 13-year-old boy that occurred last August.

Emilio Dominguez Sr., 36, was reportedly smoking marijuana with his teen son when he handed him over a fentanyl-laced pill.

“A person in the house told the defendant, ‘You might want to get this kid some help, he needs to go to the hospital,’ and he said, ‘Oh well, he’ll just sleep it off, he’ll be fine’,” said Assistant DA Edward Applebaum.

  • But on the following day, the boy was found dead. His death was caused by fentanyl poisoning, authorities later determined.

    On Wednesday, Dominguez was arrested and charged with injury to a child by omission.

    His bond was set at $150,000 and he was ordered to stay away from children under the age of 17.
