A New York City man was arrested in Pennsylvania days after he killed his elderly stepfather “execution-style” as he returned from a party.
Java Melvin was busted in Reading on murder charges in connection with the fatal shooting of 80-year-old Marcelino Valerio.
Investigators said that Melvin donned a ski mask and laid in wait for the victim to return home from a Sweet 16 party he attended with his wife.
Melvin shot the man in the head and fled on a bicycle. Later on, he returned to the family home and “mourned the loss of his stepfather with family members.”
The U.S. Marshals alleged that the suspect “planned the assassination” calling the murder “heinous.”
“This is a depraved, evil person who has always been problematic everywhere he went and he needs to be off the streets,” Valerio’s daughter said.
“My father was an honorable, loving person and we want him to always be remembered for the kind-hearted man he was.”
