Accidental shooting kills Texas store employee helping customer with groceries

A grocery store employee was fatally shot Friday evening when a rifle accidentally discharged striking him while he helped a customer with groceries.

Police in Linden said that Larry Lawrence, 39, was helping a customer put groceries into their car in the parking lot of Crump Food Store when a .22 rifle accidentally discharged at around 3:30 p.m.

    Linden Police Chief David Dulude said that an investigation into the shooting that appears accidental continues.

    “It is unclear of the means of the discharge at this time,” Dulude added.
