Authorities in Golden Gate, Florida have arrested a 19-year-old suspect and are looking for his accomplice in connection to an animal cruelty case that dates back to May 1, 2023.
An investigation was launched after remains of mutilated and intentionally burned animals were found in woods near a residential area.
After reviewing security footage, authorities identified 19-year-old Pedro Solmulen and 45-year-old Yordis Gutierrez as the suspects who visited the area multiple times and dumped animals’ carcasses before taking off in a blue Chevy Silverado each time.
Solmulen was arrested at his Naples home on Friday. Gutierrez, who is a convicted felon, remains on the lam. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call the CCSO at 239-252-9300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-8477.
“This was outstanding investigative work by our dedicated Animal Cruelty Investigations Alliance detectives who did a lot of leg work and devoted countless hours to this case,” Sheriff Kevin Rambosk said.
