A mass stabbing incident that is still not under control has left at least one person dead at the infamous Fulton County Jail in Atlanta, officials said Thursday.
In addition to the slain inmate, two others suffered injuries inside the troubled facility where former president Donald Trump was booked last week.
The incident comes days after another inmate died in the lockup in a suspected homicide.
The DOJ is conducting a probe into detention conditions inside the controversial Jail where inmate LaShawn Thompson was eaten alive by bed bugs in a filthy cell a year ago.
DOJ officials launched the probe into the prison in July based on “credible allegations that an incarcerated person died covered in insects and filth, that the Fulton County Jail is structurally unsafe, that prevalent violence has resulted in serious injuries and homicides, and that officers are being prosecuted for using excessive force.”
The Georgia jail made headlines last week after the arrest of Trump and his co-defendants. The presidential contender didn’t miss to note “poor and disgraceful conditions” at the facility.
“Seeing the third-world state of that jail made me even more determined to run for president and save our country from permanent decline,” Trump added.
