An Oklahoma man was charged with first-degree murder over the fatal shooting of his elderly mother last weekend.
49-year-old Shane Smith called 911 at 2:17 p.m. Sunday to report the incident at the apartment he and his 76-year-old mother shared in the 5300 block of NW 42 Street near N Ann Arbor Avenue in Oklahoma City.

Officers pronounced Smith’s mother Connie Smith dead at the scene. They determined that the woman was shot to death by her son.
Smith argued that his shooting of his mother was part of an agreement between the two after her health condition worsened to the point of disability.
Investigators are working to verify Smith’s claims and looking into his mother’s health condition in the days leading up to the incident.
